International Women's Day 2018
This year, here at Haygarth we decided to celebrate International Women’s Day all week long. We hosted a lunchtime speaker series with talks from motivational women in our network, featured just some of our fearless female leaders on our social channels, hosted a creative challenge and ran a donation point for SmartWorks charity organization.
Our speaker series kicked off with talks from two of our associate directors; Carrie Chappell and Katie Scott, and our Joint MD Charlotte Amos. They divulged lessons they’ve learned throughout their careers, touching on everything from what being a working mother teaches you, to taking advantage of every opportunity you come across. As the week continued, we had a visit from our very own Sophie Daranyi, who presented “Being Your Best Self”, where she delved into her thoughts on leadership, stressed the importance of leading by example, considering your motivations and promoting positivity. Another highlight was having our client Katherine Rose from Audley encourage us all to challenge the norms and to focus on inclusivity as opposed to diversity. These talks were a brilliant source of inspiration – a huge thank you to everyone who took the time to speak.
Our ECD, Steve Rogers, launched a creative challenge that dared us all to #PressforProgress and rework any ad campaign making it focus more heavily on gender equality. This got a great turnout, with people from all across the agency hanging their work up in our creative area for a final judging on Friday afternoon. The challenge had us all thinking about the changes facing our industry, and imagining what the marketing and advertising worlds might be like in the very near future.
Laura Izzard, Kristie Lemon and Charlotte attended this year’s Omniwomen event. Their day was jam-packed with expert-led panels and engaging breakout sessions. Highlights included the Lead at Speed, Authentic You, Be the Leading Lady and Leading in Creativity workshops, each of which provided specific and insightful advice.
It’s fair to say this has been Haygarth’s most exciting and successful
celebration of International Women’s Day yet, and we look forward to one-upping
it next year!
